Anyways, I was clearing my desk today and stumbled over my fic book where I had jotted down ideas for drabbles that ended up never being written.
I had two hours of free time, so I thought what the hell and finished the prompts I had written for myself.

Dean hasn't felt so much like a nanny since Sam was little. Back then Sam would get into trouble trying to behave like an adult; getting his hands on Dad's guns, sneaking after them to a hunt. Now it's Sam trying to act like he has a soul that keeps Dean occupied, all those simple choices that make Sam trip up because he doesn't know, he weighs advantages instead; running over granny while she's crossing the street and he's in a hurry to get to three younger people who need him. Three against one, the odds are stacked against grandma...

Certain things go hand in hand with Christmas. Like messing around in the kitchen, trying to make cookies from scratch till it looks like someone set off a bomb. Giving up and getting pre-made cookie dough, only half of which will actually see the inside of the oven, the other half having been eaten by Bill before. Drinking cocoa and watching the Muppets Christmas Carol, tolerating each other's decorating whims and fooling around with the dogs in the snow. In LA there's no snow, just rain and it couldn't feel less like Christmas to Tom but he doesn't say anything.

It's been ages since I read dialog this witty and dead-pan. There's only a few people who write like that and I'm still excited I found a new one.

They come and go, come and go, there's never a vacant seat next to him. Words wash over him in time with the syncopated beat of the music, fading into a curtain of white noise. Blah blah blah. His neighbor leaves, someone else immediately taking his place. You look simply fabulous blah blah blah; it comes with fingers on his back, making him bristle – the way soft darkness invites intimacy from strangers. Soon they're gone and Bill takes a breather.
“You do look fabulous tonight,” comes a soft rumble from behind him, making him smile for real.
